Why is it so hard to get out the door to trick or treat by 6 pm? I even tried to simplify by skipping tumbling class. Here is the schedule of our chaos...
3:10 pm - Allison drops Hannah home from school - thank you for the help, Alli!!!
3:15 - drop off back pack, load 3 kids in car
3:30 - 4:10 - piano lessons (yes, in hindsight, I should have skipped this too)
4:15 - 5:00 - feed kids snack then put show on for Luke in my bedroom so I can help Hannah with her homework and nurse the baby
5:00 - tell kids to get on costumes, repeat, repeat, repeat myself; change baby into costume
5:05 - avoid near costume disaster when Hannah realizes she left a non-critical piece to her costume down the street at neighbor's house, call Mariah, send Hannah down street to retrieve it
5:10 - my sister and Levi arrive to take pictures, wrangle kids and last minute costume adjustments, paint tiger nose and whiskers on baby, not happy with results, but it will have to do
5:15 - put pizza in oven, transfer baby from bouncy seat to my hip since he's fussy (evening nap not going to happen)
5:20 - 5:30 - take pictures, remove bad make-up job from sweet baby's face
5:30 - Michael arrives home and is thrown into the fire. He becomes my extra set of hands.
5:45 - feed kids, eat standing up, try to talk to Michael about job interview he just had, help Julianna find props she needs for a photo shoot and get down the giant stuffed horse from attic
6:00 - Baby loses it, Michael tries to soothe him, Brown family arrives and is waiting for us outside, pour remaining beer from dinner into transparent cups, literally throw everything into stroller, put baby in stroller and he finally calms down with pacifier
6:10 - pit stop for all
6:15 - head outside, take a few pictures, tell Leeson's down street we are on our way
6:20 - start walking, but first a quick stop by Bacchus' house and Evan's house.
6:30 - Finally Trick-or-Treating. PHEW!!!
Lots of neighbors left candy out in bowls since they were trick-or-treating. We were not that generous.
Someone was thrilled to get gum!
