First Family Camping Trip

We decided to take the family camping for the first time. Michael's family went often when he was growing up and we had gone once or twice before we had the kids. We had most of the gear so we asked our neighbors, the Bacchus' (like our extended family) to go with us. They are from Canada and have gone often so we were excited to benefit from their expertise. Faizul reserved a spot up at Eisenhower State Park. It had a shelter area with electricity but we used the propane grill and stove to do the cooking. We pitched our tents and set up some chairs around the camp fire - voila! One adult was watching Luke at all times as he was moving at full speed, but somehow we kept him contained to our areas. I was sooooo nervous that he would run off or get hurt (lots of bumps and bruises but all was okay). It was super cool at night and we had a few encounters with spiders but it was really great to get away and spend time together. Not sure we were truly "roughing it" considering we had steaks for dinner and the bathrooms were within walking distance...but it was close enough! Hope to make this an annual event the kids will remember about their childhoods.

The kids were so cute. They played ball in the gorgeous sunshine as soon as we got there.

Our tent is so big that everyone had to pitch in (literally...LOL).

Ready for the smores!
