Weekend Project

After we cleaned our family room carpet and rearranged the furniture, I was determined to finally get a set of bar stools, BUT without spending much money. I wanted to utilize our breakfast bar and give the kids an additional eating space. Sure enough I found a great deal on Craig's List - 3 wooden stools for $30. They were a dated, honey color and a little worn, but I knew a new coat of paint would give them that Pottery Barn look I really wanted.

My friend, Mel (also happens to be a designer) was over and showed me how to pop out the seats and recommended that I sand them before painting them.

Hannah and I sanded the frames down with a medium grade sandpaper.

I purchased black satin spray paint and ended up going thru 5 bottles. Michael even came out and helped! It was a messy job, but we were pleased with the end result.

Total cost was around $50 plus a lot of sweat equity. Love a good decorating project!
