Lollipop Meet

Hannah had her first little gymnastics competition a few weekends ago. On the way to the meet I asked her if she had any questions about what would happen. She said, "Yes, what am I going to do there??" Ummmm...ok...so I started to get a little worried that she wasn't prepared as I thought her coach had explained the process to her, but whatever. :) It was apparent throughout the afternoon that she didn't quite understand the logistics like where the judges were or when to start. But she knew her routines and had her skills down AND most importantly, she figured out the scoring thing right away. She watched that score board like a hawk.

First up was vault and being the smallest on her team, she was asked to go first. She did her handstand flat back well and scored at 9.0. They are apparently very generous in their scoring at this level, which is great for the kids. Normally a '9' gets them a blue ribbon , an '8' a red ribbon. At this meet they got lollipops instead. :) She rocked her next event, the bars, and scored a 9.1.

Next up was the beam and bless her heart she fell twice scoring a 7.50. Smart girl, though, she tried to turn her fall on the tuck jump into a dismount. But she didn't let it get her down and bounced back on floor to earn 9.450.

We were so proud of her! She had a blast out there, she wasn't nervous at all. I love that about her -she's always ready for a new adventure.

It was so cute, they had each girl stand on the podium and receive their all-around lollipop award. She saluted to the crowd and turned to the other gymnasts (again, a little oblivious) Ha ha!
