Just have to share what Luke is carrying around this week. He has found his Grandma's old eye covers (you know the ones that help you sleep) and carries them in his pocket and pulls them out to show people in public. I do NOT get it, but I just go with it. I tell myself to act as interested as possible.
The second item is his 2007 Almanac (also given to him by Grandma, the year he was born). I have a few new books lying around the living room. When he saw me reading one of them, he went upstairs to get his Almanac to read too. Not that he doesn't have a basket full of age appropriate books right in front of him. He has always had thing for big books with lots of words (last book was my "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child" which he called "The Sleeping Book"). He came down so excited, he hugged his Almanac and said, "I'm going to give this to Jesus!" I said, "Well, that is sweet to share, Luke." He says, "But where is Jesus?" I respond, "Jesus is in heaven." Naturally the next question is, "Where is heaven?" Of course I was juggling three other things at the same time - why do the serious questions always happen when I can't devote full attention or when their Father is no where near? So as I finish burping the baby and cross the living room to change a diaper, I tried to give him an answer he could understand. I said, "Heaven is way up in the sky where we can't see. It's a happy place." I see him pause to think for a second and then he enthusiastically announces, "I know!! I can get to heaven in a BIGGGGG rocket ship!" He raises his arms up in the air and makes a loud, exaggerated zooming sound. He was satisfied, no more questions. Never thought an Almanac would spark that conversation.
