Little Luke is still fighting sleep when I put him down. Fortunately, Michael has been home to say his magic words to get him to stop crying and complaining --- well, let's be honest --- to get him to stop screaming his head off. Unfortunately, Michael is home because he's recovering from ACL surgery. He retore the ACL repaired a few years ago playing basketball and the MRI showed that his other ACL (originally torn in '96) is blown. After 3 surgeries, he's become a pro at the PT, the icing, and the CPM machine (6-8 hours per day).
Always smiling! So back the the point of this post. Michael's Dad was so wonderful and took off work to take Michael to and from surgery while I dealt with the kids. During Easter while we were in Conroe, Luke oddly fought bedtime when Michael put him down. Then Grandpa went in to tell him goodnight and it stopped. We thought it was a fluke, but during his visit Luke fussed persistently for Michael almost behaving like he does for me. Again we asked Grandpa to go in and work his magic...sure enough Luke was silenced to sleep. Something about the alpha male in the house, I guess. It's just strange! The latest update on Michael's recovery: Dr. Troop told him he could walk without the crutches - only 8 days after surgery. He's getting around so well! The PT and PA have told him he may have to slow down b/c he is still recovering and could tweak it if he's not careful. This weekend we had a soccer game, church and the children's choir musical all of which he attended. What a great Dad! He goes back to work this week and we will miss having him home. It's been incredible how fast he's bounced back, much faster than his last two surgeries. It makes him confident he can do this again in the fall. Bring it! LOL.
