1st grade invention project

Hannah's latest homework assignment was to come up with an invention and make a prototype of it. They have been learning about inventors and machines in the classroom this past month. Hannah loves Benjamin Franklin so this was right up her alley. After about 1 1/2 weeks of deciding which of her ideas to adopt, she settled on a family drink machine, aka "Drinks-A-Lot". It took a lot of planning and coordination, and sometimes intense debate amongst the student, the parents and the Gramps who was in town over the weekend, but in the end this was Hannah's baby and she was happy with the end result. It was a lot of fun to brainstorm and create with her. Much more innovative than the "Kleenex Picker Upper" I made when I was in 2nd grade.

Orange juice? Milk? Lemonade or Apple Juice?

Demonstrating the "how it works" portion of the presentation.

Working hard with Daddy. This was a great Daddy project!

Water bottles are canisters (on a smaller scale) to hold the drinks. This is supposed to save time when everyone wants something different - you don't have to get out all the containers and pour. The "cooling machine" is the Tupperware labeled KEEP COLD...ha ha.
