Our little girl started 3rd grade last week. She was so ready to be back at school with her friends and meet her new teacher, Mrs. Mistretta. The last few weeks of August really drug out for her...she would ask how many more days until school and then groan and groan when I told her. So glad she loves school!
We did have a rough time at Meet the Teacher night when she realized that not only were her BFF's not in her class, but neither were any of the girls from her class last year. She was holding back the tears and really upset about it, but I'm really proud that she is making the most of it and not letting it get her down. She's already made a few new friends and she sees the others at recess, specials and AIM. She'll be stronger for it!
I started a tradition last year of writing the kids a letter before their first day. She read it while eating breakfast and I hope my words will stay with her throughout the year. 3rd grade is a big jump in academics and discipline, homework, and standardized testing. She's realizing that more each day, and dealing with it well. She's a smart girl - she knows she had it good in grades K-2!
Luke was really sad to send her off....lots of big hugs...
He loves his big sis!
Hannah's silly shot before loading up.
There she goes...
We were running a little late so I didn't have a chance to get a pic with her teacher, but you can see her in the doorway. Hopefully I'll get one later in the year. I also forgot to take a picture with Hannah which annoys me because I straightened my hair and everything. Oh, well! I asked Hannah what her teacher was like. Was she sweet, firm, friendly? She said she was short! Ha ha.
#23 again...hard to be a 'W'...always last. :(
I told her I was going to take a picture of her at her desk. She agreed beforehand, but it was a different story after she set down. I got the "Your embarrassing me, Mom"
look. I think this is our last year of walking her into her room !!
Excited to see what this school year brings! Watching her grow up is so amazing, but how I wish I could bottle her up and keep her 8 forever!
