The most thoughtful person alive, my dear friend, Julie, offered to keep our kids overnight so Michael and I could have a mini getaway weekend. We stayed at an Embassy Suites (with points so it was free) and it was sooooo nice not to have to put anyone to bed or feed anyone in the morning. Ahh! The kids all did great including Ryan who had his first night away from Mommy. Dinner at Steve Fields in Plano was delicious. We shared prime rib and lobster and steak! That 4 layer chocolate cake was our free dessert for celebrating there. Devine!
After dinner we had cocktails at Jasper's. It was so fun to just talk and laugh and feel like a couple again. I don't even think we talked much about the kids! We ordered several different drinks - weird concoctions - most of them I didn't like. Michael ordered this one in honor of Mad Men's, Don Draper, and his favorite drink on the show, the Old Fashion. :-)
This was some fruity drink that tasted okay...but it matched my dress perfectly and made me miss the pina coladas in Maui.
And this martini, the 'English Cucumber' was very tasty. We'd go back for this one again.
Our "once a year, nice dinner date" did not disappoint. I'm so thankful for life with Michael and our family. There really is no greater gift.
