Mom's Day Weekend

Friday night we decided to check out the Watter's Creek Live Concert Series. We picked up Chick-Fil-A and we had not even sat down when my sister and her husband spotted us. We were all surprised to see each other - it was totally unplanned. The kids were soooo excited to see their Aunt and Uncle and we had a great evening catching up and letting the kiddos play. Surprisingly, we didn't have to chase Luke as we usually do and Hannah seemed to stay within the boundaries given to her, lateral boundaries that is. At one point, I didn't see her, and when Michael didn't have eyes on her either, a twinge of panic started to take hold. :( As I started to get up, Julianna says, "OMG, Janessa! She's in the tree."

We were shocked, even for adventurous Hannah this was a new one. What would posses this child to climb such a tall tree with hundreds of people around? After a quick reprimand and explanation as to why we don't climb tries, we remembered that when she was 3-4 years old she talked to us daily about tree climbing. She was intrigued my her little friend, Miranda's tree climbing abilities. Well, sure enough once she found her opportunity, she seized it.

Today was Mother's Day and it was a great one! After church we headed to my sister's house for lunch with my parents. Michael had this super cute cake made for us. Yum! White chocolate and butter cream...

The rest of the day was full of favorites. I took an afternoon nap, read a chapter out of my book, took a quick trip to TJ Maxx, ran with the kids at the maze and ate dinner at Cheddar's with the Brown family. Soooo fun!

The best part of the day was feeling completely full of LOVE for my family and feeling incredibly THANKFUL. Being a mother is such a privilege and a joy. My children challenge me every day to be more patient, more giving of myself, to be empathetic, to be firm when needed and to recognize the beauty and wonder in this world. I learn something new every day. Thanks kids for making life so great!
