Moving On

We had a blast in Conroe a few weeks ago! Michael's parents had a big party to celebrate a great year - they moved to a new home, his mom retired after 26 years as a school librarian, and they both turned the big 6-0!

We started out the weekend with a little Fiesta for Uncle Ben. He graduated with his masters from DU and also turned 29.

The Open House was the place to be! Over 60 guests came - old friends, family from Arkansas and Oklahoma and Denver.

We enjoyed delicious appetizers, gazpacho soup, chicken salad and bowtie pasta salad for the main course. There were desserts galore and also a yummy birthday cake to celebrate June birthdays: Uncle Jim, Aunt Kathy, Ben and Hannah Kate!

This is the memory station I set up. The guests wrote a short note and had a pic taken for the scrapbook (still not complete).

The next day, Hannah had an idea to set up a lemonade stand. Uncle Jim gave her a mini lesson in price points and she chose to charge 50 cents per cup. We set up facing the golf course and those tips produced $10.50 in 1 hour! I think we have a future in sales!

Michael went on calls in Houston Monday and Tuesday so we took advantage of some Grandma time. We went to the Houston Children's Museum. The kids were in their element and we fulfilled one of Grandma's dreams.

Hannah wanted to buy something at the gift store on the way out, so Grandma told her that she had surprises in her closet so no need to get anything. Here are the kids choosing from the "garage sale". It was a big decision! Love the fact that all these toys have a related children's book in her library. Somehow they came home with about 5 toys?

Luke was so cute....all weekend he pointed out the welcome pineapples in the decor.

The little boys loved taking a bath together. 2 splashing is better than 1!

Other mentionable moments:

- We camped outside of the neighbor's house to watch the bats fly out. We saw a grand total of one bat and Hannah got eaten by mosquitoes and left in tears. As Grandpa said, it was a "bat bust".

- We went to the park and took a walk around the neighborhood - Houston is super hot but the kids enjoyed it!

-When Luke and Isaiah were having one of their shout offs, Mary Chadwick said this was one of the reasons she and Daddy Carl (age 89) traveled all the way from Fayetteville.

- We couldn't have a Wilkins get together without a marshmallow fight.

- Love and Joy was all around us! What a great way to start the summer! We wish the Wilkins many years of peace and happiness in their new phase of life.
